NATIONAL CAPITAL AREA COUNCIL

My Fellow Scouts and Scouters,

2019 was a historic year for Scouting nationally and in our Council! From presenting one of the first Einstein Supernova STEM Awards to leading the nation in welcoming girls to Scouts BSA to growing the number of youth served in our programs, National Capital Area Council continued to prove the positive impact of Scouting.

The reason we are so strong is simple: we believe in Scouting’s mission to prepare young people to make ethical and moral choices over their lifetime by instilling in them the values of the Scout Oath and Scout Law. Those values are timeless, valuable, and applicable to all young people.

And locally families are showing us they agree. The growth of Scouts BSA this past year has been unprecedented in BSA’s history. How much so? When BSA introduced Cub Scouts in the 1930’s, 3,000 boys registered nationwide in the first year. By comparison, more than 31,000 young women nationwide joined Scouts BSA in the past year. Clearly this is an opportunity families have been waiting for.

Thanks to the efforts of our volunteers, our Scouts, and their parents, 2019 was a great year for all our Scouts. The highlights are presented in this annual report; please take a moment to learn more about the impact Scouting made on our community and know that we could not have done it without your support. Thank you for all you do for the Scouts!
